1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
GOT ENGAGED (bit of a biggy that one), was photographed by Habitat, was gainfully employed by Paul McCartney (although, alas, not personally), went to Amsterdam, introduced my almost-husband to my American family, went to the Gym three times a week (although, granted, that didn't last too long), started cycling to work (and somehow managed not to get run over by a rampaging juggernaught on the Dock Road), wrote a feature for a top-flight-women's-glossy which involved me asking half of Liverpool about their sex lives, was interviewed by Company magazine, read the Twilight quartet (someone please remind me to never do that again), was nominated for a Cosmopolitan Blog Award, failed to win a Cosmopolitan Blog Award, went mushroom foraging with a bloke who looked like Gary Numan, shook Frank Sidebottom's hand.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept some of my New Year's Resolutions (namely the ones about getting a new laptop and going to America), I didn't get the American passport though. Or the eye test come to think of it. I also failed to register with a Doctor or a Dentist. And I gave up on Slimming World after two months because I got fed up of condescending women informing me that nothing tastes as good as thin feels! (which is an obvious lie - have these people never eaten Steak?)
As for 2011 New Year's Resolutions, yes, I do have them because I'm an idiot and I always make them. Nothing too outlandish though - well, unless you consider 'running 5K, writing a book, becoming a Roller Girl and doing a one night only Supper Club' not to be too outlandish.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
April did!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Grandad John. Frank Sidebottom

Holland (Amsterdam), USA (Boston and Miami) and we spent three hours in Dublin airport last month drinking weak tea and waiting for our gilded Aer Lingus chariot to take us back to Manchester.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A book deal, a TV show and my own food column in a national newspaper. I don't ask for much.
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
:: The absolutely mental week in March where I was offered the job at LIPA, went to London to celebrate Domestic Sluttery's first birthday and my Grandad died.
:: The day in Amsterdam where I knew that me and
:: The day where we told everyone we were engaged, and I spent the entire day feeling as though I was going to pop with happiness.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a taxi from Boston South station to my Grandfather's house 45 minutes away whilst blind drunk and with an equally drunk almost-husband in tow. Managing to get taxis to take me home when I've drunk so many cocktails I have been incapable of speech. I'd like to say 'getting engaged' but I feel that would be a bit reductive. Work wise, it's been my most successful year ever, so that's pretty cool. And the continuing success of Domestic Sluttery makes me feel proud and happy every single day.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Voting Liberal Democrat. Combining inappropriate shoes with a freshly waxed floor. Falling over in public far too often.

Food. Cocktails. Writing. Holidays. New adventures.
16. What songs will always remind you of 2010?

:: Excision & Datsik - 'Swagga' (Downlink Remix)
:: Wire - Map Ref. 41 N, 93 W
:: Cocteau Twins - Bluebeard
:: Wild Beasts - All The Kings Men
:: Gil Scott Heron and Jamie XX - NY is Killing Me
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? About the same actually. Although in terms of work, I'm about 1,00000 times happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter. The answer to this is ALWAYS FATTER.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer. I assure you that this is as much of a shock to you as it is to me.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing food pieces for the Independent. Writing food features for the nationals in general. Dancing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating. Voting Liberal Democrat. Going into work hungover. Worrying about my parents.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Drinking heavily, making Beef Wellington, watching Top of the Pops and rekindling my hatred of Ferne Cotton, cutting the tip of my engagement finger off. The usual sort of thing.
22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Yes. With the Soft Shell Crab that was served with a Chilli Sambal and icy cold beers at Ning in Manchester.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Does Nick Clegg count?

27. Are you happy with your lot?
Yes.
28. What did you want and get?
A boss that isn't a sociopath. A job where I earned over £25k per annum. Infinite happiness.
29. What did you want and NOT get?
To not have to chase any of my freelance clients for money. Tell you what, that's a bloody errand that gets very old VERY fast.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
:: An Education
:: Toy Story 3
:: Black Swan (although if anyone asks, I haven't seen that yet. Right?)
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
My parents came to Liverpool for the day - we ate lovely food at Delifonseca, went for a long walk around Pier Head and then drank lots of wine at The Philharmonic. Then I went down the hill to The Shipping Forecast to meet

Old friends who I really should take the time to keep in touch with.
38. Who were the best new people you met?
Everyone at LIPA.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Don't walk to work wearing stupidly high wedge heels and a vintage dress with no tights. You WILL trip over on a paving stone, fall over in the middle of one of the busiest roads in Liverpool, bust your knee up so badly you won't be able to run on it for a month and (to add insult to injury), flash your knickers at everyone on the 86 bus going towards Speke.
40. Quote a lyric that sums up your year:
"All of your tales are lies
You've never been to Alton towers
Michael Caine doesn't follow you
And you've never been to Spain."
- Music:Forest Swords: Rattling Cage
